North Borland Cottage sits in a rural location in Dunlop, North Ayrshire. The client approached us to provide design proposals for the remodelling of the internal spaces to improve the sequence of entry and to make more of the existing layout. This brief soon developed to include proposals for a small, single room extension, reconfiguration of the entrance and increased volume throughout the ground floor areas by raising the existing roof height.
The extension is perceived as a simple, timber clad box with large windows to provide the new living space with uninterrupted views across the landscape.
