Ice Plant

Riach Partnership were appointed to rationalise an existing planning consent which had subsequently elapsed and successfully gained a revised Planning Consent in January 2008. In doing so, the original scheme went through a rigorous overhaul and was tested against updated Technical Standards and a shifting housing market whilst attempting to remain consistent with the original consented scheme.

The site includes the existing Victorian buildings at numbers 29 and 31 Blossom Street and the retained façade at number 33 with 3 new build blocks which address the varying urban grain of the Ancoats area.

The three blocks wrap into, and fuse, with the existing buildings around a top lit atria space which serves to provide gallery access to the apartments as well as allowing natural light into the centre of what is a considerable depth of plan.
